The Peacherine Ragtime Society Orchestra is one of the leading organizations today underscoring classic silent films with their original, historic orchestral scores. Below are the offerings for the 2023-2024 season:

Peacherine's Stage and Screen Spectacular - Join the Peacherine Ragtime Society Orchestra for a musical time machine back to the fun and excitement of the early 20th century. Tap your feet to the syncopated stylings of the early 1900s - from tongue in cheek vocal numbers to the classics of Scott Joplin and George Gershwin, and even pop favorites by The Beatles and Queen. Watch classic silent films underscored by a live twelve person orchestra with live music and sound effects! It's a program sure to make both young and old smile from ear to ear. Grab your bowler hat and suspenders, park your Model T down the street, and enjoy a trip back in time with Peacherine!

Masters of Silent Comedy - A comical combination of classics! Enjoy a trio of films by the kings of silent comedy, Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, and Laurel & Hardy, for an evening of movie and musical fun.

Spooky Silents: A Silent Film Halloween - Scare up some fun as Peacherine underscores two ghostly silent films from the 1920s with live music and sound effects: Laurel & Hardy's HABEAS CORPUS (1928), and Buster Keaton's THE HAUNTED HOUSE (1921), combined with ghoulishly delightful ragtime classics. Offered in October and November, be sure to bring the kids in their Halloween costume!

Christmas At The Silent Movies - Get on Peacherine's musical sleigh and travel back to experience the Holiday traditions of yesteryear. Comedy favorites by Laurel & Hardy and Buster Keaton come to life with live music and sound effects, as well as a screening of the first ever film adaptation of Charles Dicken's classic A CHRISTMAS CAROL. Between the films, sing along to holiday classics, played by Peacherine!

The Mark of Zorro (1920) starring Douglas Fairbanks - One of cinema's greatest swashbucklers! Follow the adventures of Don Diego de la Vega, as he dons mask and cape to become the legendary Zorro! Featuring a beautiful Spanish-tinged score, have your audience enjoy this stunning classic film, filled with action, romance, and a bit of comedy.

 

Safety Last (1923) starring Harold Lloyd - Hold on tight as your audience witnesses one of the most iconic silent films of The Roaring 20's. When Harold Lloyd hears that a store manager will pay $1,000 to anyone who can draw more people to his store, he convinces his friend, the "Human Fly" to climb a building and split the profit with him. But when his pal gets in trouble with the law, it's up to Harold to complete the stunt on his own! Harold hangs off the clock in this comedy spectacular, guaranteed to make you cry with laughter.

 

F.W. Murnau's Nosferatu (1922) - Get into the spooky Halloween spirit with the classic silent film Nosferatu, the way it was meant to be seen! Released in 1922, Nosferatu is considered one of the most foreboding and influential horror films in the history of cinema. In this first-ever screen adaptation of Bram Stoker's Dracula, what is supposed to be a simple real estate venture leads an intrepid young businessman deep into the heart of Transylvania, and the castle of the otherworldly Count Orlok, portrayed by the legendary Max Schreck in a performance which has spawned its own mythology. But is the Count just the wealthy eccentric he appears to be, or something much more sinister? 

The Freshman (1925) starring Harold Lloyd - Experience the classic "college comedy" of the 1920s as Harold Lloyd enrolls at Tate University for this hilarious telling of university life, sports, and more.
